The Neighbors began in 2015 as a 13,000-word horror story exploring privacy, trust, and identity—where secret aliens collect information on their human neighbors. The following year, as R.L. was reading the incomparable graphic novel Persepolis, she got the overly ambitious idea of adapting her story to a visual format. Now she quests to complete the artwork and publish a print edition.
